Project a month

I’m trying to do one science project and one other project a month with the children.

I’ve dedicated one whole day just for science and project work and masha’Allah it really worked well.

Previously I’ve tried to do a little project work in the afternoon but by the time they got through other subjects there just wasn’t any time. So instead they now have a full day just for this and we had a blast masha’Allah.

For science, we’re all learning about one topic together but differentiated as per their age and ability.

For the other project that’s where I’ve got a bit of a headache as they’re learning about different topics.

At the moment we’ve started a project about Wind and windpower for science. And the other project is a country study. R has chosen Brazil. Z has chosen Canada and Y has chosen Antarctica.

I’m going to try and post activities saved under each category on the blog so that if you decide to do a similar project in the future it will be easy for you to find all ideas/activities related to that specific project inshaAllah.

Categories are on the right hand side of the blog.

Please do share any ideas you may have if you’ve already competed the project we’re currently studying.

Oh and I receive lots of private emails. Please please try to use the comment function on the blog n instead so that others can too benefit from your ideas or anything you ask and I may respond to. I’d really like this blog to be as useful as possible inshaAllah.

my kids and i did a study on habitats and we covered Antarctica quite a lot – we didn’t really use any primary source as i recall just lots of books from our home and local library. They also did a Antarctica diorama and we used lots of lapbooks on animals that live in Antactica from homeschool share

For the habitats study we used a program from Elemental science – habitats lapbook. the lapbook focused on four primary habitats and this was plenty for the boys (5 and 7 years),

May Allah give you and your kids success and fun learning times, ameen!

    Dear sister !
I was so glad to see that R chose Brazil for her project masha Allah ! Please do tell her that her brothers and sisters over here remember her very well ( at least the 3 old ones! ) ! I am preparing myself and them for homeschooling ! So they love to hear about R, Z and Y and praise their good work and achievement, masha Allah ! Sarah suggested me to write and tell you that she would love to help on her project if she needs anything! For example : she uses my email address to practice her English by corresponding with a friend in DZ ! They can do the same if you please and Sarah can answer her any curiosity about Brazil as well as send her videos and fotos ! I recently recorded 3 parrots eating from our guava tree ! Masha Allah ! And we can see a family of tucanos flying from our avocado tree almost every day ! Subhanallah , they are beautiful! She can also tell her what does it feel to be a muslimah in Brazil ! Youcef got this idea , because recently his been over excited with a school project where kids from a capital correspond vie letters with kids from a countryside ! I particularly praise that so much because it has been done in old fashion way, hand writen , stamped ,post by them at the post office and what a good feeling( way lost by their generation ) when receiving the answer from the post man ! I use to love that feeling!
Any way , we would love to be in touch ! Vie post or email , phone , Skype or whatsaap !
We all love your family fissabilillah !
Lots of love , from Brazil !

    Assalamualeikum wa rahmatullahi wa baraketu

Masha’Allah I just read your message to R. We miss you. You’re still in Brazil mashaAllah. You know I was going to contact you as R was asking me if I knew any aunties from Brazil she could interview. And I reminded her about aunty vivi. Tell sarah she’s so excited about speaking to her and would love to see the toucans and parrots if you could send a video. Will definitely call you inshaAllah to arrange Skype. My love to you and the kids. Husb said he wants your dh number xx
